Holy shit…. Beck’s career is paralleling Howard Beale’s

Has it occurred to any of you that he has a martyr’s complex? He’s repeated this often enough to make me think it’s a dog whistle. He identifies with Howard Beale in NETWORK.

Howard Beale (Peter Finch), the longtime anchor of the UBS Evening News, learns he has just two more weeks on the air because of declining ratings. Weary from misfortunes and sorrowful, he is treated to a night of drinking with his boss and friend, Max Schumacher (William Holden), followed by mention of his desire to kill himself. The following night, he actually announces on live television that he will commit suicide by shooting himself in the head during next Tuesday’s broadcast.

yes, I dreamed a dream of stealing. It was how to remove the anti-theft devices, and get out with merchandise. No stealth about it, I showed someone in a store aisle how to remove a dye device. f course, I cut it from the shirt first, but hey, better to ruin a corner, than the whole shirt

The Tale of Kochheaded Dave

Poor little Davey Koch. Someone punked his Governor, and now he’s crying about “Identity Theft”

 

Yes, children, gather round and hear a tale of Poor Kochheaded Dave.
Dave was so wealthy, even he was impressed by it, and thought he was Master of the World. One day, while Kochheaded Dave was petting his second favorite pet, it was an oddly adorable, yet vicious little beast called a “teaparty”, his first, another vicious, yet unadorable beast called a “Walker” was being tutored in the art of deception.

A man, an alien being known as a “Journalist”, picked up his telephone, and made a call to the pet, Walker, and knowing he wouldn’t get to talk to the Walker if he revealed himself, pretended to be Kochheaded Dave. Hilarity ensued as the Walker rolled over and exposed his throat to the Pretender as the Pretender played his unpaid role. The Pretender, when he had had his fill, ended the call, and revealed himself to the World. Now, this revelation caused the Walker great anguish at having been revealed to be the pet of Kochheaded Dave, and Dave. Well, Kochheaded Dave was outraged at the humiliation of his pet Walker, and the admission that he, Kochheaded Dave owned such a pet.

Thinking about what recourse he had, Kochheaded Dave went to the press and declared:

“It’s a case of identity theft,” Koch told the New York Times in a rare interview Friday. “I didn’t even know his name before this brouhaha erupted.”

Poor Kochheaded Dave was beside himself (his favorite sexual position) and “joked”:

“I was thinking to myself, ‘My God, if I called up a senator or a congressman to discuss something with them, and they heard ‘David Koch is on the line,’ they’d immediately say, ‘That’s that fraud again — tell him to get lost!'” he said.

And, you know, that Senator would be quite correct in that assessment.

Why, yes, I will be hosting a talk show

over here Fridays 5-7 PST/8-10 EST. I’ll be talking about Language and how it shapes the Consensus Reality and what happens when language gets schizoid. Call and let’s discuss the following premise:

I’ll be bringing up elements of what some call “woo” and others call “new age” and others NWO, call it what you will, but the fact remains, we as a whole, agree on our Reality and what it means to us. The fabric of Reality is being torn and patched by the Rightwing from the Kochs to Heritage Foundation to Glenn Beck and Orly Taitz. It’s my opinion, that there is a shift from a Forward looking reality where our Nation excels to one where we live in a Dystopian World not so much of William Gibson or Phillip K. Dick or even Orwell or Huxley, but one of our own intentional making.

Progressives, Liberals, and yes, my own dear Pagans have let the frightened Right shift perceptions, while we just whinge and stamp our feet. Their tactics are not “occult” or “mysterious” they’re actually rather blatant and simple:
Story-telling.
Metaphor
Trust me. I know what they’re about.
Let’s tell some stories ourselves, shall we?

Nor, is he nuts. He is rather, an adept at the NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) technique called “Sleight of Mouth“. He may be the BEST at it that I have seen.
What is “Sleight of Mouth” you ask? it’s verbal shell game/three card monty designed to confuse you, then hypnotize you and then, reframe your world. The technique was created as a means of eliciting therapeutic change in thinking by Robert Dilts, and in the video, you can see its misuse.

I HAVE IT!!!

and, I owe it to Stephen Colbert and his segment, THE WøRD. It has been said, that when an AA meeting is so successful, that people will “fall off the wagon” in order to facilitate meetings. A ‘re-probleming”, so that there is a “better” reason for other members to talk about their struggles and success with their desire for alcohol.   In the Jan 18, 2011 segment of THE WøRD, Colbert pointed it out: Civil Rights has been so successful in certain areas, that there are those who “feel the pressing need to undo it in order to address it” They’re not bigots, just people who fell off the Equal Rights wagon.
