So, I go into a circular “I don’t see the questioning of your injury” argument with a friend. Of course she didn’t – the question wasn’t directed at her, and it wasn’t the 20th time she had had her mTBI questioned in a private email from the leader of a support group.

in a group for “MILD Traumatic Brain Injury” it’s insulting to be questioned when you post a link or two. ESPECIALLY when one defines how you perceive your mTBI. So I played Drama Queen, answered her, and snittily left in a snit.
YOU do not perceive as I perceive. just as I don’t perceive a slight to you in the same way, or hear criticisms not directed at me. Precisely because they aren’t directed at me.
My mTBI was the result of a home invasion. I’m high functioning, so HF, that I come across as a hyper, inattentive smart ass, who must occasionally take a break from work and lie down . and, that’s where the problem lies.

you asked me on the phone today, why I am working if I am 100% disabled. Did you ever stop to think, that I am earning more money working? That I have an apartment, instead of “living” in a shelter for the next 6-10 years and receiving around $450/month? Yes, father, I am actually making more money working. Have you considered, that since my assault, I have been royally screwed by every single State/City Agency I have had contact with – from the Independent Living Centers, where I was kicked to the curb, and have never had the courtesy of a reply from the Center’s Manager, to having a bogus “student loan” reported as a “default” on my credit, (yeah, my credit wasn’t too good, but still) to having “advocates” for my welfare lie to me, to having housing affidavits not sent in, to just dealing with shit on my own, because I realized that no one will really help. NO ONE in this Hell Hole gave a damn, The Center for Jewish Poverty and J— included.
Look what I accomplished daddy, and tell me why you don’t seem to appreciate what I have come through. Not even our “own” gave a damn.
why do you not like me? that’s what it feels like to me. To you, I may be being “silly”, “ridiculous”, or whatever other adjective you wish to use, but dad, it’s how I am feeling. I come to you for help/advice and you tell me essentially I am full of shit. “How can I be disabled? you work. Well, guess what? I am in the “High Functioning” category of TBI. and, that entitles me to ADA protections. Hey, maybe, I should have been left in a coma, or more visibly injured. Then you wold believe I am disabled. But I don’t look or sound any different than before, so how can I have deficits? You’ve read the Neuropsycholigical report. Was that bogus?

I just need to keep it to myself, unless there’s an expressed need to let people know what’s going on. I guess it’s all in a day’s work for a tbi survivor… trying to figure out how to navigate the working world. Or the world in general.”
I also just cut my nose to spite my face. Joined a LinkedIn group fr mTBI survivors, and left afte being asked in email about my creds: Survivor, caregiver or doctor, and all because I posted two of the links from this email into that group.

I have an ironic idea. What if all the writer, composers and creators in the world just stopped doing what they do and go do something else like sell insurance… Go with me here. in April, I purchased a LaCie “Little Disk” it has a small footprint and a built-in USB cable. I thought that was pretty neat. Then I got it home. Every time I shifted my laptop, it unmounted.
here’s the conversation I have going with LaCie Wreck Support:
First, they tried to tell me, my 2Ghz mac was too slow:
So I give him the specs to my mac & he responds by tell;ing the same f$cking thing:
So, they send me the damned “Power sharing cable which is really just a USB cable that plugs into the drive. Didn’t work. So, a few weeks ago, I get this email from them:

we’re sorry that you’ve been inconvenienced by an issue with your LaCie product.
Please be assured that we will do our best to quickly provide you with a fully functional unit.
We would ask that you carefully read and follow the instructions as detailed in the attached document. Please also make sure you print and stick the attached delivery note on the external package you will use to send your defective unit back to us.
Please also note that this document is not an Air Waybill allowing you to send the defective product at our own cost, and can never be used as such.

That’s right, they are telling me that if I want the thing repaired/replaced, I have to
1)buy a new external HD
2) transfer the files,, since they will be wiping the drive
3)send it back at my cost
Are the serious? S, I responded with the following email to Wreck Support:
Dear Tech Support
If I am such a “Valued LaCie Customer”, I’m certain you are desirous of
keeping me as such.I have come to a decision concerning my LaCie
product: You are going to replace it. NOW. You will send me a new
External HD that is not a “Little Disk”, but with a comparable portable
250G drive if none is available, then a 320G. I find it equally
preposterous, that you are requiring me to first, buy a new drive to
back up my files and then I HAVE to pay for the return? I don’t think
so. You will send me a replacement drive with an RMA. I will then
transfer my files to the replacement and return this PoS to you along
with the cable you sent all conveniently stored inside the case I bought
for it.
So far, I have had to repair my Internal HD twice today due to this
perfectly awful drive. Yes, your “Little Disk” has f$cked my Internal HD
and has stopped my workflow until I can replace it.
I am a Very peeved “Valued LaCie Customer”
I CC’d sales on this. I think, I’m buying a portable WD MyBook Studio.
update:Spoke to LaCie TechSupport, seems that embedded in that warranty, that no one ever needs is the fact any warranty return is on the customers dime. Also, tech@lacie.com is /dev/null SWEET they send you an email, you reply, and never hear back, because they don’t monitor the inbox. This “Valued LaCie Customer” is going elsewhere for her drives. oh, and what good IS a external harddrive if you have to have a back up for that and a back up for the back up and so on? LaCie Tech, you are lusers
